Cupid Strikes! Make A Valentine Wish.

Valentine’s day is here! All are excited to create moments of delight for him and her, girlfriend and boyfriend, boys and girls, husband and wife, wife and wife and husbands together. Nobody wants to miss this one opportunity to express how they feel. Creating their own delightful moments by choosing the colour of love… purple for the devoted and committed to relationship, magenta for passion and harmony, yellow for cheer and friendship, pink for fantasy and hope, orange for yearning - like Lady Chatterley’s love, and the most popular - red for love and passion…. it’s going to be about hearts, roses, chocolates, cupid’s bows & arrows, love and romance all of today.

“And suddenly all the love songs were about you.” – Unknown

But, no pressure! Internet is abuzz with good ideas on how to celebrate the day. And, the local dailies are full of celebratory offers that would spark joy. The choice is yours! You can bake a heart-shaped cake for the much awaited occasion, or show affection with fresh blooms; surprise your love with a heartfelt personalized gift that rings true or give-and-receive a token of affection – something your partner has always wanted; cook a memorable meal together and have a date over a bottle of wine and romantic music, or set a candlelight dinner at a super restaurant for the magic-of-night romance. Picking your way to keep your romance alive-and-well by expressing your love might be the way to go. And, for those who have missed the flurry of valentine’s shopping, there’s always Amazon. Especially, if yours is a long-distance love relationship.

I grew up in a time when sending anonymous cards or messages or roses to those whom one admired was the accepted way of celebrating Valentine’s Day. Oh! What fun it was! The day often ended in a Valentine’s Day Ball. My fav!

“Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same.” – Emily Bronte

Traditionally known for celebrating romantic partnerships, this holiday, at some point, undeniably became a lot more commercial. Over the years, ‘Rose’, ‘gifting’ and ‘hospitality’ industries started making a fortune, since couples began spending more money on gifts and unique experiences. It all became too much – when simply exchanging surprise gifts and romance wasn’t just enough, it had to also look good on the social media pages for the whole world to know. But, it seems, COVID has somewhat changed that. This year, it’s more like “Will you be my quarantine?” instead of “Will you be my valentine?” Kidding, of course. It’s not that terrible. Though, the celebrations are a bit low-key, because the truth is that the pandemic has affected many relationships resulting in break-ups – in turn, affecting the industries. Sigh! It is time to make a Valentine Wish.

“We do not love because we do not comprehend, or rather we do not comprehend because we do not love. For love is the ultimate meaning of everything around us. It is not a mere sentiment; it is the truth; it is the joy that is at the root of all creation." - Rabindranath Tagore

Personally, what I think is, this day is one of the few days in life that is worth celebrating, because love is one of the few things in life that makes life worth living.

Happy Valentine’s Day, gorgeous couples!
